Semi-trailers are the main force in the domestic transportation market, especially in long-distance cargo transportation, semi-trailers are almost monopolized. The axle of the semi-trailer is generally installed behind the center of gravity of the vehicle, so it cannot independently maintain the balance of the body, and at the same time, the semi-trailer does not have the driving force and needs to be driven by a tractor.

According to the different application fields, semi-trailers are also divided into many types, such as flatbed, gooseneck, concave beam, warehouse grid, van, container, self-dumping, etc., compared with ordinary trucks, semi-trailers can increase transportation efficiency by 30-50%, transportation costs can be reduced by 30-40%, and fuel consumption can also be reduced by about 20-30%.

However, with the continuous development of vehicle technology, models such as central axles, double trailers, and automobile trains have emerged in China, and some of them have more advantages than semi-trailers in length limits and cargo loading.

Some car owners wonder: Is the peak of semi-trailers over? Will semi-trailers be eliminated in the future?

For now, this concern is completely unwarranted. We analyze from three main points:

1. Semi-trailers are more in line with China's national conditions.

Compared with foreign road transportation, domestic road conditions are more complex and harsh, in addition to uneven development of road networks in various regions, lagging infrastructure construction of transportation stations.

Compared with other models, semi-trailers are flexible, fast, have large carrying capacity, are efficient and relatively stable, and can meet the vast majority of cargo carrying needs.

At the same time, compared with emerging vehicles, the input cost of semi-trailers is lower, and most logistics companies and retail investors in the domestic general cargo transportation market are more willing to choose cost-effective semi-trailers.

2. Look at the current number of semi-trailers in European countries.

From the development status of the global logistics industry, the logistics system in Europe is quite developed, whether it is transportation or supporting technology, it is at the global leading level, such as lightweight, standardization, specialization, intelligence, remote control, etc. Some people say that the development of the European semi-trailer industry today is the tomorrow of the development of China's semi-trailer industry, which makes some sense.

But even in European countries with such advanced vehicle technology, semi-trailers account for almost 70%-80% of the total transportation volume. According to relevant statistics, the sales of semi-trailers in Europe this year reached about 680,000 units. It can even be expected that the market share of semi-trailers will grow steadily for a long time to come.

3. There is no model that can completely replace semi-trailers.

If semi-trailers are about to retire, then at least new models need to appear and be applied on a large scale. From the current point of view, no new model has been found that can completely replace the semi-trailer.

Whether it is domestic or foreign, the types of trailers are nothing more than semi-trailers, full trailers, central shafts, and automobile trains.

Full trailer needless to say, in the country has risen for a period of time, due to poor driving stability, not allowed on the high-speed, in addition to the difficulty of driving is also high, difficult to large-scale application, with the passage of time and the development of vehicle technology, and finally concentrated in the dock, factory, port and other field transportation field, some agricultural trailers also use the form of full trailer.

The central axle trailer, although according to the regulations, the central axle trailer can be made longer, there is a lot of space for cargo loading, can not stand the middle axle trailer chassis is low, encounter potholes in the road section passability is not dominant, the acquisition cost and maintenance cost is relatively high, running up and down or swinging left and right, driving difficulty is also high, many owners reflect that "have to have a little technology to drive", "too difficult when turning", "drive up and shake all the time", etc., now more used in coupes, express transportation, travel trailers and other fields.

Car trains, suddenly looking, car trains are indeed very windy, two or more cars, can load more goods. However, although automobile trains are widely used abroad, they can be used in China due to their high purchase cost, poor driving stability, easy tail flicking or skidding, high requirements for road conditions, high driving difficulty and other shortcomings.

It can be seen that the status of semi-trailers may not be shaken for a while, of course, we refer to compliant semi-trailers, as for those models that are originally illegal or modified after violations, such as flat dump trucks, 17.5 large plates, oversized and ultra-wide container semi-trailers, in the context of strict investigation by the traffic management department, or will face investigation, fines, scrapping, elimination or permanent ban.
