In general, non-maintenance wheel bearings maintenance cycle in 1W km-5W km, maintenance-free maintenance cycle is longer, generally in 10W km-50W km. Some owners are usually busy because of the car, often ignore the vehicle maintenance. 1, make preparations, park the vehicle, set up the axle, to ensure the safety of the operation;
2, remove the wheel hub axle head decorative cover, dust cover;
3, remove the tire nuts, remove the tires, pay attention not to touch the bolt threads. Disc axles need to remove the brakes, and then remove the locking ring or locking pin with hand pliers;
4、Remove the wheel hub with special tools;
5、Scrape off the old grease in the bearing, journal and hub cavity, clean the wheel bearing and journal with cleaning agent, dry them with a clean rag and finally wipe the inner cavity of the hub;
6, check the wheel hub bearing and bearing seat ring, find cracks, fatigue spalling and loose bearing rollers, pockmarks on the bearing seat ring, the bearing should be replaced;
7、Check the fit of bearing bore and journal, the fit clearance should be ≤ 0.10mm. when measuring the journal, it should be measured in the upper and lower parts of the vertical ground. If the fit clearance exceeds the specified use limit, the bearing should be replaced to restore the normal fit clearance. Never burr or pockmark on the journal to reduce the clearance;
8、After confirming that all parts meet the requirements, apply grease to the inner bearing and put it into the hub;
9, when applying grease to the inner bearing cavity should be careful to squeeze the grease into the bearing until the grease emerges from the other side of the bearing, do not apply too much, otherwise it will affect heat dissipation and braking. Apply a thin layer of grease inside the hub cavity and inside the axle head cover to play the role of rust prevention;
10. Put the hub and outer bearing back on the journal, install the axle head nut and tighten it with the axle head wrench according to the specified torque. Rotate the hub left and right a few times in order to check the bearing installation, and at the same time make the bearing and seat ring fit correctly. When the bearing progresses properly, the wheel end can rotate freely and feel no axial clearance;
11. Install the locking piece, fixing nut, tire, dust cover and decorative cover, etc. in turn.
Special attention should be paid to the wheel bearing preload force must be controlled within the specified range, too tight will lead to too small bearing clearance, resulting in bearing ablation; too loose will lead to sliding between the bearing and the hub or axle, resulting in wheel oscillation driving instability, and in serious cases, the wheel may fly out.
Grease must be applied in the right amount, too little then poor lubrication, resulting in friction between the bearing and the hub increases, resulting in bearing damage, too much will lead to poor bearing heat dissipation, resulting in spontaneous combustion or braking failure of the vehicle.
In addition, the maintenance cycle given on the axle manual, the owner should also be strictly integrated with the actual, if their vehicles often transport heavy goods, or driving road conditions are more severe, the vehicle maintenance cycle should be shortened accordingly.
